If your leather jacket gets a mildew smell, it means the jacket was stored in a humid place or in a plastic bag. To mildew smell, you can either use alcohol solution or vinegar solution. Chemical Smell in a leather Jacket
If your new leather jacket has a chemical smell, it means the leather is badly tanned or it is not real leather. A strong chemical smell comes from Faux leather. If it is sold under a real leather tag then do not buy that jacket. Spraying baking soda solution on a leather jacket is an effective way to deodorize the leather.
